Chapter 1
The Gnome took out a black velvet bag and emptied its contents on the
coffee table.  Seven dazzling jewels: a ruby, sapphire, opal,
aquamarine,  emerald, amethyst, and a diamond sent a rainbow of lights
dancing on the ceiling.  The colored stones were bigger than peanut
M&M's and brighter than fireworks. But it was the diamond—at least
several carats—that stood out in glory: a square-shaped, sparkling
supernova with a shimmer of pink inside.

Chapter 5
The Gnome opened the screen and stood to one side.
There displayed was the ultimate in fine Italian design: a sleek,
contemporary platform bed, dresser and side table in a dark satin finish.
There even was a full-length mirror, a contemporary-style
chaise lounge and a screen upholstered in a pale-green silk fabric.

You would sparkle with accents in coral, or cornflower blue, spring green—vanilla! You would shine with a touch of sunny yellow, a sprinkle of periwinkle.

Chapter 18
That night, Brenda dreamed she embarked on the Great Flarkenspiel, trudging through wilderness under a moonless sky amid falling rocks. It was a harrowing dream but fulfilling because she ultimately obtained a cone of blue cotton candy, which she thrust heavenward as if it were the torch of freedom.
